12 fellows to the 17th Iligan National Writers Workshop

The 17th Iligan National Writers Workshop opens on Monday, May 24 at the MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology Mini-theatre. Twelve writing fellows were selected for this year’s INWW. They are:

POETRY (Filipino): Bernardo Miguel Aguay, Jr., Calabanga, Camarines Sur; and Paul A. Castillo, University of Santo Tomas, Manila; (English): Roberto Klemente R. Timonera, MSU-IIT, Iligan City; (Sebuano): Gratian Paul R. Tidor, MSU-IIT, Dipolog City; Herminigildo M. Dico, MSU-IIT, Dumingog, Zamboanga del Sur; Jona B. Bering, University of San Carlos, Cebu City; (Waray): Nemesio S. Baldesco, LAMIRAW, Calbayog City;

FICTION (English): Jayson E. Parba, Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro City; Kyra Camille C. Ballesteros, Ateneo de Manila University, Taytay, Rizal; (Filipino): Romeo P. Peña, UP Diliman, Quezon City; (Hiligaynon): Reynaldo A. Villaruz, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, Roxas City; and,

PLAY (English): Anili F. Butcon, Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City.

The 17th INWW panelists are: Antonio Enriquez, Leoncio P. Deriada, Merlie M. Alunan, Victor N. Sugbo, German V. Gervacio, Steven P.C. Fernandez, this year’s keynote lecturer, Lawrence Ypil, and workshop director, Christine Godinez-Ortega.

Major sponsors this year include the MSU-IIT Chancellor’s Office and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research & Extension; the National Book Development Board; the NCCA Speakers Bureau; the Manuel E. Buenafe Writing Fellowship; JY Balacuit Memorial Awards; and, writers groups, schools, past panelists and INWW alumni who donated cash and in kind so the workshop could be held this year.

Isang magandang programa po ang katulad nito sapagkat mas higit na nalilinang ang kakayan ng ating mga kapati na may talento katulad na sa panulat. Ito ay isang opurtinidad para sa kanila.
